We meet each student where they are and discover their highest potential together. We only hire the very best teachers who are accomplished learners themselves, highly qualified in their subject areas, certified to work with the unique needs of gifted students, and who have a heart for our mission. We continually measure our performance against external standards such as the Indiana Academic Standards and the National Association for Gifted Children Gifted Programming Standards. On August 1st, 2018, the Indiana State Board of Education unanimously voted in favor of state accreditation for the Apogee School, so you can be assured of the quality of our school. Family CultureThe first thing you'll notice when you visit our school is how genuinely happy and content everyone of all ages is as they go about their business. When you build a school around the values of dignity and respect for all people, and expect everyone to give their personal best in every detail, it's no wonder everyone loves being here. We are a community of learners. Our teachers are continually expanding their knowledge within their content areas so they can teach concepts in depth. Our students love going above and beyond what's in the book with their inquiry. Learning here is truly enjoyed! |
Small Learning CommunitiesResearch has shown that achievement, attendance, student involvement, and college acceptance increases when students are taught in small learning communities. We cap our classes at 12 students compared to the Indiana average of 21 in elementary classrooms and 27 in high school classrooms. We believe that each child should well known by their teacher and classmates. Small classes allow each student to have a voice, be a part of a democratic process, and to have more focused individual learning opportunities. |

Whole Child EducationThe Apogee School for Gifted Children not only provides an excellent academic foundation, we also intentionally provide support for the unique needs of each gifted child. The majority of the staff is gifted, so we personally understand gifted issues such as sensory, intensity, anxiety, mild twice-exceptional, perfectionism, and how to work well with others. We also understand the positive traits of giftedness such as a need for deep learning, acceleration, and even a unique sense of humor. Our graduates are comfortable with themselves and fully prepared for the real world. In grades K-8 we offer "life hacks" classes to learn basic, intermediate, and advanced life skills such as how to cook a nutritious homemade meal, how to change a tire on a car, how to work with disagreeable people, how to budget, and what to do in emergencies. Our high school students go through a comprehensive and innovative business and career preparation course designed and taught by successful local business owners. |
AffordableSending your child to a private school is a big decision, especially when there are so many excellent schools to choose from. One thing we do to help make this affordable for you is keeping our costs down without sacrificing quality and passing the savings along to you. Now that we are state accredited, we are able to offer vouchers. Most families with a median income qualify. Additional features of our financial aid package include Apogee scholarships, SGO scholarships, special education allotment, and a 50% tax credit for corporate and personal SGO donations. An Apogee School education is financially within reach of every family who needs to be here. If you're looking for a quality, private education for your gifted child, we simply can't be beat! |
